If this is your first trip to Jiangxi, this guide answers the questions every guest asks before booking.
Where to start
Nanchang is the natural gateway: its Changbei Airport and Nanchang West high-speed rail station connect to all major Chinese cities in 3–6 hours. Most travellers arrive in Nanchang and depart from Shangrao (near Sanqingshan), which avoids doubling back. Huangshan North station is only 30 minutes from Wuyuan by train, and Xiamen is an easy extension south.
How many days
Five days covers the grand loop comfortably; six to seven days adds Longhushan, Wangxiangu or Jinggangshan. Short on time? Choose Lushan alone (3 days), Jingdezhen + Wuyuan (2 days) or a Nanchang day trip.
Best seasons & packing
March–April: rapeseed flowers in Wuyuan; June–August: escape the heat on 22°C Lushan; November: shaiqiu colours; December–February: rime snow on the peaks. Bring light layers for mountain summits, non-slip shoes for Sanqingshan and Wuyuan cobblestones, and rain gear outside of autumn.
