This is our most-requested Jiangxi itinerary — the classic 5-day, 4-night grand loop that strings together the province's five icons: Nanchang, Lushan, Wuyuan, Jingdezhen and Sanqingshan. It works year-round, balances mountains, villages and culture, and uses high-speed rail so there is almost no backtracking.

Day-by-day plan

Day 1 — Nanchang. Arrive at Changbei Airport or Nanchang West station. Visit the Tengwang Pavilion, August 1st Square and Wanshou Palace quarter. Eat banfen mixed noodles and clay-pot soup, then sleep in the city centre.

Day 2 — Lushan. Drive to Mount Lu, take the cable car into Guling town and walk Ruqin Lake, Flower Path and Brocade Valley. Sleep on the summit at 22°C.

Day 3 — Jingdezhen. After the Lushan viewpoints, head to the porcelain capital: Ancient Kilns, the China Ceramics Museum and a hands-on pottery workshop. Sleep in Jingdezhen.

Day 4 — Wuyuan. Jiangwan and Likeng villages, then cable-car up to Huangling for the famous shaiqiu crop-drying terraces. Sleep in a Hui-style guesthouse.

Day 5 — Sanqingshan. Ride the Jinsha cable car among granite pinnacles, hike the Giant Python rock and the West Coast skywalk, then depart from Shangrao station.

Budget & booking tips

All-inclusive small-group tours start around RMB 2,680 per guest including hotels, tickets, cable cars, most meals and a guide. Intercity trains and single-room supplements are extra. April–May and September–November book out early — reserve summit and Huangling hotels at least two weeks ahead. Travellers from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas can add arrivals from Shanghai, Guangzhou or Shenzhen by high-speed rail, or extend the loop to Huangshan (30 minutes from Wuyuan) and Xiamen.
